I am very excited about this weekend. This weekend will be for what I hope, pretty close to the team we will have come Districts. Hopefully everyone is healthy and injury free.
On a healthy note: Parents it wouldn't hurt if you put your kid on a multi-vitamin if you haven't already. Encourage your kids to take their vitamins, dress for the weather, don't go out with wet head, get good sleep, eat healthy, etc. To many times have I witnessed great wrestlers tumble when It comes time to perform at their best. Stress is already wearing on our wrestlers. Lets do our part to try and keep them healthy. Thank you!!

Notes on Yesterday
Yesterday I know we took third, but I think we had the best tournament thus far, this season. I think it was the best performance out of every individual wrestler. Also I think of it like this. We didn't have a 189 and 215 lber scoring for us, as well as Terry didn't wrestle and Hankins and Garty didn't score all the points that they could of scored for us. If we get all five of those guys scoring points for us we dominate that tournament. So I feel we did exceptionally well with what we had.
On another note I am very excited for this weekend. Dundee is going to be a great tournament for us and I just hope that this is a chance for us to have our line-up in and we have all of our boys healthy and all firing on the same cylinders.

Just a little update.
We have really just been spending the last two weeks getting better. We have had all of last week to practice as well as this week to practice. Last Wednesday and this Wednesday duals are great opportunities to wrestle decent teams as well as great learning tools. The guys are able to go out there and really practice what they have been taught over the last couple weeks. This past weekend was a great opportunities for our varsity team to take the weekend off after going hard for what seems to be the last two months. It was also a chance for Coach Hall and I to take our B team and freshman and sophomore's to tournaments. Our Freshman and Sophomores were able to go to Holly and all wrestled three matches. This was a chance for those guys to get better, since they really haven't had a chance to wrestle since the County tournament. I was told by Mr. Schlack that they did a great job and that he was impressed with them, which excites us very much. Coach Hall and I were able to take 9 guys to Clio to wrestle 5 duals and we won two duals against varsity teams and lost 2 of the three duals b 4 points or less. What an amazing job by our B team, even with giving up 30 points going into every dual. I think we gave up less then 10 matches all day, which is outstanding. Also we had three of our nine guys go undefeated (Jacob Madrigal, Charles Smith, and Gramm Goyette) awesome job guys. It was truly exciting to see our younger guys wrestle this past weekend and it is exciting that these guys are who we are going to be depending on in the next couple years.
With that we look forward to Wednesdays dual and the tough Holt Invite this Saturday. We will be taking 14 guys and we look forward to seeing our guys compete in yet another tough tournament.

Practice,
I just wanted to give you guys an update on how practice has been going. With having this entire week off to train it has been nice. We have done exactly that.... trained!! The last week we have done what Coach Elliot calls "tighten the screws a little". We found that we don't exactly need to train harder as much as we need to train smarter. We came to the conclusion that our guys are wrestling hard and fighting but maybe we are not wrestling as smart as maybe we should be. So over the past week we have worked on a lot of technique. We haven't really added anything new but what we have been doing is repeating over and over again what we already know. The guys have been working really hard and it is truly awesome to watch these guys in action. I can go up and down the line up and give great examples but the gist of it is the room is freakin tough. One day soon we need to hold a practice for parents to watch. You all would be very impressed with the way your children are working. With that all said we have a couple more days of training and as a coaching staff we are really excited for this weekend. DCC will be a tough tournament, with great competition. It shall be a fun weekend. Also we will be sending a team to Bendle now, so our "B"team will also get some competition. Till next post... Go Cards!!!

Trivia Questions
1.) I found this answer out a couple weeks ago and not to say that it surprised me but more so impressed me. Coach Elliot graduated 7th in his class. So it goes to show you that wrestlers can be smart.
2.) Bryan Rickard is my cousin. He graduated in 2008 and went to Appalachian State for a brief stint on a wrestling scholarship.
